CBI dismantles transnational cybercrime networks targeting minors and foreigners
New Delhi: According to the CBI, 45 individuals have been identified and eight persons have been arrested in connection with transnational financial crimes made possible by cyberspace, including online sexual offenses directed towards girls.

The accused offenders have had $66,340 in cash seized by the agency. Thirty bank accounts were frozen for their involvement in the offenses.
The raids were conducted as part of Operation Haechi-VI, a global initiative by Interpol. To break up the international cybercrime networks, the Indian agency worked with the FBI, the US Department of Justice, and Germany.
Following operational advice from the FBI and US Department of Justice, the CBI apprehended two criminals who had used social media to harass American girls and coerce them into sharing pornographic photos and videos.
"CBI also dismantled a network of cyber-enabled transnational financial crime that were being operated through illegal call centres in New Delhi and Amritsar, which had targeted US nationals online," a representative for the agency stated.
The CBI further stated that the operations were conducted under "pseudonymous identities" and falsely claimed to be "providing tech support services" in order to scam the victims.
Another network of cyber-enabled financial fraud was busted and dismantled by the CBI through an illegal contact center in Siliguri, Darjeeling, after receiving input from Germany.
Under the pretense of offering tech support, this operation targeted Germans online and scammed them using pseudonymous identities.
Major multinational networks have been significantly disrupted and dismantled as a result of the operation, which targeted seven different types of crimes. According to a CBI spokesperson, the agency's initiatives highlight how crucial international collaboration is in the fight against cybercrimes.
