Indigo Airlines Recruitment Scam: Two Cyber Fraudsters Arrested in Delhi

New Delhi, September 29, 2025 – In a major breakthrough, the Delhi Police Cyber Crime Unit has arrested two individuals for operating a fake job recruitment scam under the name of Indigo Airlines. The accused duped multiple job seekers through false advertisements, WhatsApp communication, and forged official documents.

Scam Uncovered After Victim Loses ₹24,000+

The case came to light when Rohit Yadav, a job aspirant, responded to a Facebook advertisement claiming to offer job placements at Indigo Airlines. He contacted the given number and was approached by a man identifying himself as “Rohit Sharma”, posing as a recruitment officer.

The victim was tricked into paying a series of fraudulent charges, including:

  • ₹350 for form fees

  • ₹3,250 for uniform charges

  • ₹15,500 for an employment agreement

  • ₹5,000 for file handling fees

To appear legitimate, the fraudsters sent Yadav a fake gate pass and a bond agreement via WhatsApp, using the Indigo Airlines logo.

Once all payments were made, the accused blocked the victim’s number and became untraceable.

  Police Investigation Leads to Faridabad

Yadav promptly filed a complaint on the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal (NCRP). Investigators traced the money trail to a State Bank of India account under the name Azad Khan, residing in Faridabad.

Further analysis revealed the mobile number used in the scam was registered to another individual named Ajay, also from Faridabad. Based on this evidence:

  • Azad Khan was arrested near Sector-55, Gochi

  • Ajay was nabbed from Jeevan Nagar Part-II

Fraudsters Confess to Fake Job Racket

During interrogation, both suspects admitted to running a fake recruitment scheme, targeting job seekers desperate for employment. Police recovered:

  • A mobile phone and SIM card

  • Fake appointment letters

  • Forged employment bonds

  • WhatsApp messages with Indigo branding

The accused revealed they were close friends and devised the plan to make quick money.

The duo has been booked under sections related to:

  • Cheating

  • Forgery

  • Criminal Conspiracy

All seized devices and documents are undergoing forensic examination to uncover a possible wider network of similar scams operating across states.

Cyber fraudsters are increasingly using social media and digital wallets to target job seekers. Awareness and caution are the best defenses.
