A PhD student from IIT Kanpur has alleged sexual harassment against an Assistant Commissioner of Police, and an investigation is currently in progress.

The student claims that Khan befriended her under the false pretense of being single, initiated a romantic relationship, and later sought physical intimacy while suggesting marriage. The student, who lives in the IIT Kanpur hostel, indicated that when she brought up the subject of marriage, Khan started to harass her and exert mental pressure. Unable to cope with the distress, she sought help from IIT Kanpur’s administration, including the director and faculty members, who promised her their complete support.

In response to the scholar's allegations, an FIR has been filed against ACP Mohsin Khan. The Kanpur police have announced that Khan has been immediately relieved of his duties as part of the disciplinary procedure.
