Gang duping youths on pretext of jobs busted in sarnath, 11 held

Varanasi: On Sunday, a group of cybercriminals who were tricking young people into believing they were employed were apprehended in the Sarnath region by the cybercrime squad and Sarnath police. The group used to run a phone center where they would prey on and defraud job seekers.

On Monday, ACP Cyber Crime and Sarnath Vidush Saxena claimed that the gang approached jobless teenagers and coerced them into engaging in cyber fraud operations under the pretense of hiring them for network marketing positions.  Eleven individuals were taken into custody by the police: Raju Shukla (22) from Bhadohi, Suhail Sheikh (20) from Jharkhand, Mohd Ayub (24) from Pratapgarh, Akash Chand (24) from Gorakhpur, Anis Tiwari (23) and Ravi Prakash (27) from Bihar, Anurag (19) and Pradeep Kumar (20) from Prayagraj, and Aman Verma (30) from Sultanpur.

He added that 38 young people, including 14 girls who were ensnared in the gang in exchange for jobs in textile network marketing, were released. "Police have recovered 22 fake digital appointment letters, 19 room management forms, and 10 mobiles used for calling unemployed youths to dupe money and expand the strength of cyber slaves," he said.
 According to the ACP, "The company, which operated under the name RRMV Institute, used to telephone or contact job applicants via its website to offer them a position in network marketing selling clothing"

In order to receive an appointment letter, these young people were required to pay Rs 2,850 each for either three days of instruction and clothing or guest accommodations.  They were not provided a job profile, and all of the addresses on the documents they were given were either fictitious or inaccurate.
 Additionally, they received uniform kits valued at Rs 10,000, Rs 20,000, Rs 30,000, and Rs 50,000.  In the past, the employees received a commission for each new person they brought into their network.  Additionally, money was taken from young people under the guise of incentives.

According to the ACP, after being hired by the company, the young people were forced to get in touch with other job searchers in order to earn money and receive a reimbursement for their money.  The young people who were saved revealed that they were forbidden from interacting with one another or with outsiders and that they would face severe repercussions if they attempted to speak with the police or file a complaint.
 Some of the young people were able to escape the business, nevertheless, and informed the authorities of its fraudulent practices.

A squad headed by DCP Varuna Zone Pramod Kumar took the complaint seriously and conducted a raid on the building in the Pahadiya section of the Sarnath police station's Shrikrishna Nagar Colony on Sunday night.  The building owner was not involved in the gang activity, according to investigations.
