The public is warned by the Telangana Cyber Security Bureau about the rise of APK scams.

Hyderabad: A public warning against the increasing danger of Android Package Kit (APK) frauds in the state has been released by the Telangana Cyber Security Bureau (TGSCB). Fraudsters are exploiting phony links to WhatsApp apps such as "PM-KISAN" and "PM-YOJANA" to trick users, compromise their devices, and perhaps result in large financial losses.

The method by which users unintentionally download malicious apps through these sites was noted by Shikha Goel, Director of the TGSCB. These apps have the ability to hack phones, steal personal information, and result in financial theft once they are loaded.

The public has been cautioned by the TGSCB to be wary of links from unreliable sources and to abstain from sharing them on messaging apps or social media. It is advised that citizens only download apps from reputable government websites or approved app shops like the Google Play Store.

Before downloading an app, consumers should confirm its legitimacy by looking at reviews, permissions, and publisher information. You should disregard dubious links that you get over messaging applications, emails, or SMS.

Users are urged to remove the malicious program right away, secure their accounts by changing their passwords, and notify the authorities of any suspected fraud. The TGSCB is still working to increase public awareness and shield people from online dangers.
