Police find 58 mule accounts in Nashik city used for cyber fraud
Nashik: The cyber police in Nashik city have fo mule accounts that were used for transactions Rs79 lakh by the cybercriminals
The cyber police are still investigating the mule accounts. To date, they have registered three F under the relevant sections of the BNS for cheating petty organized crime. According to senior officers of the cyber police station, the number of cybercrime incidents is rising daily. People who commit cyber fraud lure or intimidate residents under various pretexts, such as investment schemes, part-time job offers, work from home, or digital arrest, forcing them to transfer money into different bank accounts and thereby defrauding them.
Cybercrime victims file online complaints using the Government of India's National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal (NCCRP). The state cyber department provided the Nashik cyber police with information about bank accounts used to defraud residents nationwide.
After examining the data, it was discovered that different Nashik City bank accounts were utilized for cybercrime.
The police have identified 58 similar bank accounts in Nashik city in the last few days, and transactions totaling Rs79 lakh have been completed thus far.
"In order to contact the cybercriminals, we are looking into the specifics of these bank accounts. People in Nashik city alone are defrauded of tens of crores of rupees annually by cybercriminals employing every tactic imaginable, according to a police officer.
